After two years of sitting empty, the farm looks a little ragged in many ways. We've spent a few days outside in the beautiful weather doing some yard work- trimming trees, clearing the windbreak, pulling weeds, mowing the grass, etc. The loader has REALLY come in handy and you should see the brush pile outback.
We have our first set of visitors- Grandma and Grandpa, the farmers. They're just finishing a round of visiting their kids and are wrapping up their trip with a visit to our new place. They have been great help and a wonderful source of information/ideas for us on different things. It will be sad to see them head home tomorrow.
We've met many of the neighbors now. One in particular has been super nice-they are teaching our oldest how to ride a horse. They are horse rescuers of sort and are very involved in 4H and teach the horse program. Our oldest is thrilled and is really enjoying the time spent over there. We too are grateful for their new friendship as well.
We went to registration for our oldest at school today. He's expecting a whopping 38 kids in his class this year- his freshman high school class. What a change that will be for him! We are awaiting word on schools for our youngest and hope to have him enrolled by midweek at his school.
The boys are really loving being out here. I know they are eating ALOT, so they must really be thriving with the farm work and working up an appetite! The weather has really been beautiful. I'm not sure we've been much above 80, and much of the country has been having record heat.
I've found my way to the farmer's market. I am really missing having a garden this year. Grandma did help me freeze 5 quarts of green beans. We've been eating alot of the other wonderful summer fruits and veggies we got from the market.
