Checking in from here...

Hello! Its been summer here, yea after our first snow and now its the beginning of October. We've enjoyed balmy mid 80s- funny to listen to folks talk about how HOT it is. Keep in mind though, we are up higher in altitude, so we're a little closer to that heat! Leaves are all turning and falling. Winter wheat has been planted in many spots and is already sprouting in the fields.

We are well here. Busy as usual. Boys always have some kind of a project! They've cleaned out the building we'll call "garage" and have prepared it so our van can go in over the winter. I would guess the truck will be in the barn (or new shop).

New shop contract has been signed. Honey is busy purchasing extras he needed, like OSB board, insulating sheets. The trailer is sitting out there loaded. The boys have taken out the doors on the big barn and widened the opening so he can get loads of things through there to store until they need it while building. Honey is going to prepare the ground for the concrete floor, which he hopes to have done by the end of the month. The building is slotted to go up in December. He's chosen an Eagle Span building. Honey will finish the insides himself. Building is supposed to be 50 x 63 x 16 high. I think he's looking forward to it and I'm looking forward to him having a place to work in the cold winter.

Boys have been working on draining the 3,000 gallon molasses tanks, so we can move them out of the area to open it up for the new building. Anyone need a big tank??

Any one know anything about alternative energy sources? We are pondering several things for the farm. Love the idea of going off the grid, but not sure quite how to do it. Have talked to a wind person. Looking at putting radiant hose/pecs? in the shop floor incase we decide to heat the shop that way. Wonder about solar as well.

School is going well for both kids. They seem to be enjoying it and fitting in fine. My job is going well, never enjoy being the new person who feels like they don't know whats going on, but know that will pass as well. I am taking a beginner quilt class at oldest's school one evening a week. Its nice to be able to use a little creative energy!

Honey's sister and fam are going to be moving about 4 hours from here- looking forward to seeing them more.

I am making calzones for dinner. Time to get back to it- I'm hungry!! A great week to you all! We miss you!
