Project update

Never a dull moment here on the farm.  Last weekend the boys pulled out 3 old approaches on the farm.  Nothing like using big equipment to move some dirt!  They widened 2 other approaches as they worked.

This weekends project was digging holes for fence posts. Time to close off and fence an unused driveway on the edge our property.  The boys have also been disking and cultivating around the trees, preparing to put up an electric fence and a wind fence to give the trees more protection.

The deer have greatly enjoyed the garden and the trees this year. We are hoping to nip that in the bud.  At the last home we had, folks recommended dried blood to keep the wildlife out of the garden  which we had good success with, as well as it being a great fertilizer.  I asked a master gardener shortly after we moved here about the dried blood and he didn't recommend- thought it would attract the bears- YIKES!!  Needless to say, we haven't tried that this year.  We're going to try the fence. Wish us luck! Open to more ideas.

Wishing you a good week!
