Happy 4th of July!

Hello! Happy 4th!  We are here and well.  Where does time go??  I'll fill you in on some of the details from here.

The garden is growing. Tomatoes and peppers on the plants. It has been very cool here, a long spring.  We aren't complaining, except we would appreciate some rain. The fires have started south of here due to the dryness. Going to be a scary summer.  The radishes are almost done, eating lots of spinach and lettuce too.

Our trees look good. Most are green and leafy. Having trouble with some crab apple trees and some hawthorne? that just haven't come around.  The boys are watering/flooding every week and seem to enjoy nurturing them along.

The boys have been busy pulling nails from all the boards that came home from the granary at the original farm. The shop building is cleaned up and hopefully work will begin in there soon- wiring, insulating, etc.

Oldest is enjoying his summer job - irrigating for a local farmer. He's pulled some 12+ hour days but seems to like it. He's dreaming of buying a truck. I'm afraid that reality is getting closer and closer. Trying to "teach" him that buying a truck means more expense than just that- repairs, upkeep, insurance, etc. The cheaper the truck doesn't necessarily mean its a "good" one.  Lots of good conversations about it going on here. 

Youngest has been busy working with a tutor/aide alot- 4 days a week in June, 2 x a week the rest of the summer. They stay busy learning about money, time concepts, cooking/measurements, life skills, buying groceries, going to the Case Tractor dealer, among other cool outings.  He's also doing some adaptive rec camps- like horse camp, sports camp and has a rafting adventure coming up soon.  He's still doing his therapies over the summer, so transporting him has not quit for the summer.

Honey and oldest went on FFA Range Days recently and learned lots about grasses, weeds and soils.  State fair is the end of the month and oldest will be showing some FFA things there. He's in a great program here with good folks, ddefinitely his niche.

Work is going well. Still crazy busy due to understaffing issues. I did complete my certification for my job last week- woo hoo! I had 2 years to complete that process and did so in a year and a half. So glad to be on this side of that process.  Still though feel like I have lots to learn.
