Mid April- ALREADY??!

Hello! Hope things are going well on your end! I think Spring is coming, its starting to green up. Trees are not blooming and I haven't seen a flower yet. We did wake up to snow this morning though. Sigh....

Life is on a roll here! The boys have been out cleaning up the "yard", pulling fence and putting things away. The farmer who rents the land is coming out to burn the field in the next few days. Many farmers prepare their ground this way. In the afternoon evenings, the sky if full of plumes of smoke where farmers are burning. They head out with their planters the next day to get in the new crop. I tell you though, one night this week a farm up the hill was burning their field. I walked out of the house the next morning and it smelled like a wet ash tray. The dew had settled on the ashes in the field. Folks tell us this is common in the spring. We'll have pics for you of the burning of our field, if possible, as that develops.

Honey and oldest just completed their Hunters Safety Course over the past 2 Saturdays. They are now official with their card and bright orange vest. They won't have to go to far to get that deer or pheasant- we have a TON of them in our own backyard!!

Life is still on a whirlwind. Boys start spring break this Wed after school until Tuesday. Looking forward to some down time and getting a few things done. At some point we have to continue unpacking- we're expecting company at some point this summer and we may need the room!! Have you made YOUR reservations yet??

Recently we had a fundraiser game of basketball for youngest's special olympics team. We had a tailgate party (hotdogs and hamburgers) followed by a basketball game where our special team played against kids in our high school. Both events were a free will donation. It was a great time, great crowd interaction, lots of hecklers in the crowd and the principal of the school did an amazing job calling the plays. A great time and a lot of laughs had by all.

Oldest was working on a school project and took this picture (below) for an advertisement he was making. Caught him looking at ads on Craig's list today. I told them they didn't need a scraper!! Boys and their toys!!

A few pics of the cats- Grace is the grey one in the back, JD is the striped one in the front.

This is the momma to be.....still waiting for those kitties to make an appearance!
