Happy New Year!!

Wishing you a year filled with dreams and good wishes! Remember that oftentimes it is our mind that limits our abilities. Think positive and move to make your wishes a reality. Hoping your year is filled with fun times, loved ones and amazing memories.

We are well on a very cold day at the farm. I think the temp is around 15, but with the Chinook winds, wind chills are around -20. It does beat the -10 temps we had the last few days. We received 13 inches on snow on Wed this past week. I even got to work at home one day, thanks to my boss! We are getting more used to driving in winter conditions (doesn't mean we LIKE to drive in these conditions). The wind wreaks havoc on the snow drifts on the road. It doesn't take too much to get stuck, even in a 4 wheel drive. Out here, things don't really close for winter weather. Back where we came from they recently closed for 3 inches of snow and usually call off school if temps are 0, due to the buses having trouble starting. No rules apply here. People are still out and about, even after 13 inches. Life continues to go in the winter. The boys are going to miss their school snow days.

We had a fatality of sorts on the farm this past week. We "lost" our grey/white kitty Katy. We're not sure what happened, but oldest found her in the kitty coup stiff as a board. It hadn't gotten cold enough to freeze in there, so I'm not sure what happened, but our hearts have been heavy this week missing her bouncy personality always trying to sneak in the house! The first of many losses of such, I'd guess, but also the first loss of a pet for us.

We have had a great holiday break. Oldest two went skiing one day. There's been plenty of equipment moving between snow and pulling forms off the foundation. We spent last evening with neighbors who were joking about us working in the extreme conditions, whether the day we got the 13 inches, or working with lights until 12:30 at night.

The builder stopped by to check in with us today. Our building should arrive around Jan 10-12ish. Builder is finishing up his last project so we anticipate some movement on the construction of the building sometime this month.

We're gearing up for ski season. Special Olympic skiing kicks off next weekend and will keep us entertained for the next 6-8 weeks or so. Honey will be an asst coach, oldest will be a unified skier, youngest a participant.
