what lazy days of summer??

I truly believe we will never run out of things to do. Can you relate too?

The last month has been a whirlwind. Last month we met up with honey's family to celebrate his parents 50th wedding anniversary along with his two sisters and families. We spent a week of R&R enjoying nature and each other.  We were back less than a week and honey had a death in his family and "needed" to go home. Youngest accompanied him and the two of them had 10 days of wonderful visiting with family, not just with honey's side, but with my side as well.  Thanks to all those who accommodated their visits, kept them clean and well fed. They are rejuvenated by the good visits and family bonds refreshed during their visits.

While they were away, oldest and I stayed here and worked. Oldest has been very busy helping with harvest for the farmer who has employed him all summer, alot of late nights and long days.  I think he has truly enjoyed his summer job, has enjoyed learning the ropes of irrigating, fixing pivots, working on his own and we were blessed with a good employer/family who made sure he was well fed with lunches and dinners throughout his work week.

Everyone is home now and honey's to do list was still here waiting for him.  He's trying to fix a neighbor's tiller and needs to spend time fixing the backhoe and tweaking the tractor when he has time. I still am hoping he can work in his shop soon, wiring so he can have it insulated before winter, giving him a nice warm place to work.

Its dry here too. The fires have been all around. While the boys were gone we had some pretty amazing evening with a bright pink sun, due to all the smoke.  The sunsets were spectacular.  I'm grateful for the spring water that feeds our garden.  We are getting loads of zucchini, enough to keep the neighborhood fed.  I'm going to try out a few new recipes to use up some as well.  I was able to make/can some zucchini relish last week to replenish the empty cabinet. The deer are finding our corn tasty, they are eating it by the stalk.  Hoping for some tomatoes and cucumbers to enjoy and can as well, but haven't gotten any yet.

The trees look good, the irrigation water has been a blessing to give them a boost in this very dry weather/heat.  We are surviving without air and am grateful we don't have many 100 degree days here and the humidity is dry.

We're feeling the rumbles of school coming. Youngest school schedule came today- can't believe he'll be starting his freshman year of high school.  Oldest will be a junior....where is time going? They've got about 2.5 more weeks before their summer break is over.
